Mission and Vision

Our Mission

Parents for the Freedom to Read Minnesota is dedicated to protecting every family's right to read freely in our public schools, school libraries, and public libraries. We empower parents, families, and communities to defend intellectual freedom, promote diverse and inclusive collections, and resist efforts to censor or restrict access to books and educational materials. Through grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy, we work to ensure that every child, in every corner of Minnesota, can discover, learn, and grow through the power of reading.

Our Vision

We envision a Minnesota where every student and family, regardless of where they live or what they believe, has the freedom to choose the books and materials that enrich their lives and expand their horizons. We strive for a state where no voice is silenced, no story is erased, and no child is denied the right to read. Our vision is a community of empowered parents, educators, and allies working together to protect intellectual freedom and keep the doors of discovery open in every school and library across the state.
